Washington Co. Commissioner Leroy Meyers Issued Summons In Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

December 14th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The Herald Mail reports a former attorney for LeRoy Myers Jr. said the Washington County commissioner wanted his day in court to defend himself against allegations of sexual harassment made by a former county employee. It appears Myers might get that chance. Sarah Lankford Sprecher, who resigned as assistant county administrator earlier this year, has filed a lawsuit against Myers, seeking damages in excess of $225,000 for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and defamation. The civil complaint, which was filed last Thursday afternoon, requests a jury trial in Washington County Circuit Court. The suit alleges Myers made unwelcome sexual advances toward Sprecher during a county business trip to South Korea in October 2016.  When contacted by WCBC when the accusations first surfaced in late May, Myers only comment was that “the claim is untrue and I have done nothing wrong”.  After originally being represented by attorney Bruce Poole, Myers has since made a switch- retaining the services of Ronald Taylor. A summons for Myers was issued Friday. Once served with the suit, he will have 30 days to file a response. Following an internal investigation, which was never made public, the county on Sept. 19 announced it had found no evidence of "unlawful conduct" by Myers. Since then, two county commissioners have acknowledged findings that Myers kissed Sprecher during the South Korea trip.
