January 23rd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

On January 22, 2019, at 6:00 p.m., the Cumberland Police were contacted at the police department by a male robbery victim.  The victim informed officers that while in the 1200 block of Willowbrook Road he was accosted by Tony Gallen Jr., age 26 of Wiley Ford, WV.  He explained that Gallen entered the passenger side of his vehicle and requested money. He stated that he refused to give him money and the request turned into a demand.  The victim further advised that he told Gallen to get out of his vehicle, and placed the car in reverse.  He explained that Gallen then removed a gun from his waistband, pointed it at him, and threatened him. He stated that he fled the scene and contacted the police.

While the victim was making the complaint, a Cumberland Police officer on patrol unfamiliar with robbery complaint located a disabled vehicle on I-68 westbound.  The officer stopped to assist, and while out with the vehicle learned from a back-up officer who arrived on the scene that the disabled vehicle and Tony Gallen Jr. were possibly involved in a robbery with a gun. Officers began investigating the robbery and requested consent to search the vehicle.  While searching the vehicle officers located the handgun used during the robbery as well as prescription medication.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Gallen was placed under arrest and charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, handgun in vehicle, handgun on person, armed robbery, firearm use in a felony violent crime, and CDS possession not marijuana. Gallen was later taken to District Court for his Initial Appearance and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bail.
