WV Attorney General Urges Senate Confirmation of William Barr as U.S. Attorney General

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and 20 state attorneys general wrote to the United States Senate expressing support for confirmation of William P. Barr as the next United States Attorney General.
 
The attorneys general state in the letter their support of President Trump’s pick for U.S. Attorney General, writing that Barr is qualified for numerous reasons; chief among them is his service as Attorney General with distinction from 1991 to 1993.
 
“As state Attorneys General, upholding the rule of law and protecting public safety in our communities requires regular collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice and Office of the Attorney General,” Attorney General Morrisey joined in writing. “Mr. Barr has shown extraordinary interest in working with state legal and law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime and other threats to Americans. His actions show he views us as partners in public safety, knowing that we are more effective when we work together.”
 
The group of state attorneys general, citing Barr’s experience, believe he will effectively take on a wide range of issues under the purview of the U.S. Department of Justice.
 
West Virginia signed the Louisiana-led letter with attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
