Cumberland Man Charged with CDS Possession

On 11/15/2020 at approximately 8:00 AM the Cumberland City Police were dispatched to the single digit block of Ridgeway Terrace for a disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke to Jacob Patrick Snyder and observed him to be in an excited state. Officers located a hypodermic syringe near Mr. Snyder and requested consent to search him. Mr. Snyder allowed officers to search him and suspected heroin and suspected fentanyl was located on his person. Following the announcement of new state restrictions, Bob Atlas, president and CEO of the Maryland Hospital Association, is speaking out, saying there are some deeply concerning trends to watch. Commissioners President Expects Unhindered Process for COVID Relief Funds Distribution

Allegany County is preparing to issue nearly $650,000 in COVID-19 relief grants to eligible businesses in the local restaurant industry. Governor Larry Hogan announced last week that the source of the funding is the state’s Rainy Day Fund with the grants distributed through the county. The program is part of the larger $250 million offering from the Rainy Day Fund that will be circulated statewide. Sporadic Power Outages Reported

City Man Jailed on Assault Charge

Saturday morning at approximately 6:00 AM, Cumberland City Police responded to the 100 block of North Mechanic Street for an assault. Upon arrival officers contacted the victim and observed visible signs of injuries. The victim advised they were struck multiple times in the head and face. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Officers located and arrested the suspect Jamar Cordelle Peck without incident.  Peck was taken before a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
