The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today announced that it has partnered with the Allegany County Health Department to open a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the Allegany County Fairgrounds Ag Pavilion at 11400 Moss Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502. More Than a Dozen Charged with Illegal Bear Hunting in Maryland

More than a dozen hunters in Maryland are facing charges after they used illegal techniques to hunt black bear.  Maryland Natural Resources Police handed out the citations between Oct.  26 and 30, during the state’s annual bear hunt. The Department explained that although the hunters were legally allowed to hunt bear, they illegally used bait to attract their targets. The citation carries a $500 fine. The hunters were cited in Allegany, Frederick, Garrett and Washington counties. Hagerstown Inmate Among Latest COVID Deaths

Two inmates in Maryland have died from coronavirus-related symptoms, according to the state medical examiner’s office. One of the inmates was incarcerated at the Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown, the other at the Roxbury Correctional Institution.  Both inmates were males, one in his 50s, the other in his 60s. According to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, both men had been hospitalized prior to their deaths.

Roethlisberger Added to Steelers’ COVID-19 List

The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed four more players on the COVID-19 list, including quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.  The move comes a day after tight end Vance McDonald went on the list after testing positive following a 24-19 win at Dallas that pushed the Steelers to 8-0. Running back Jaylen Samuels, offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins and linebacker Vince Williams joined Roethlisberger on the list Tuesday. MD 51/Industrial Blvd Bridge to Reopen Thursday

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will reopen MD 51 (Industrial Boulevard) bridge Thursday, Nov. 12. The overnight work will restore traffic back to its original pattern over MD 51/MD 61 (Wineow Street) and CSX Transportation lines in Cumberland.   Starting at 6 p.m., crews will begin guiding traffic back into the northbound and southbound lanes of MD 51. Previously, crews were working on the southbound side of MD 51 and all lanes of traffic went through MD 51 northbound. The overnight work is expected to be complete by 7 a.m. Friday. This pattern will be in effect through the spring, which is when work will resume on the northbound side of MD…

Lonaconing Man Arrested Following Disturbance on Warwick Ave

On 11/09/2020 at approximately 9:00 PM the Cumberland City Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Warwick Avenue for a disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke to the complainant and learned that Daniel Lynn Miller had caused a disturbance and they wanted him to leave. Officers spoke to Mr. Miller and advised him to leave the area. Mr. Miller continued to yell at the complainant and ignored officer repeated commands to leave. Mr. Miller was placed under arrest and transported to the police station. Mr. Miller was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial in District Court.  …
