Archdiocese of Baltimore Proceeds with Chapter 11

Monday’s federal court preliminary hearing regarding the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s bankruptcy will continue through the summer as the judge reviews the church’s reorganization plan. Survivors of child abuse while in the church are advocating for a $441.3 million plan that treats parishes and schools as part of the church entity. This follows reviews of the archdiocese’s finances amid a $246 million child abuse settlement and insurance liability disputes. The archdiocese maintains that its own reorganization plan is viable and aims to reach a resolution.
