McKay Says Coal Suits AES Site Best

Since the closure of the AES Warrior Run plant, the facility has conducted studies in order to try to find other ways it could once again be productive. An announcement from Governor Moore’s office last week said the company is looking at battery storage. Republican Senator Mike McKay told WBAL Radio that is old information…
“That’s nothing but a bunch of hogwash. Unfortunately, the statement from the second floor was incorrect. I think they’re putting the cart way before the horse. It is something they were exploring. They also were exploring woodchips. I don’t think that was close to becoming a reality.”
McKay said the state needs to look at a faster way to get power back into the grid for Marylanders…
“In Maryland, we import 60% of the energy, and the demand is up. We need an all-approach energy source policy, and clean coal at AES Warrior Run is one of the ways that we can hit the demand.”
