Majority Whip Moves To University of Maryland

Kathy Cornwell

Maryland Delegate Jazz Lewis announced in December he would not be continuing in his position as a delegate for Prince Georges County, saying he had been offered a position as lobbyist for the University of Maryland. Lewis had served as a Democratic delegate for nine years. Derek Coley was elected by the Prince Georges County Democratic Central Committee to fill Lewis’ seat. Coley says he plans to run for the seat in 2026. Governor Moore needs to approve the committee’s selection.
