Fire Departments Get Funding for Rural Wildfire Protection
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is providing Volunteer Fire Assistance grants to fire companies across the state to help enhance wildland fire protection in rural communities. The Maryland Forest Service is providing $167,000 in match funding for the grants. Eight companies in Allegany County received funding ranging from $1830 to $3500. The funds help firefighters equip and prepare for controlling the spread of wildland fire in Maryland.
