Local Physician Passes

Dr. Jesus Tan, 78, died Saturday at UPMC Western Maryland.  Dr. Tan came to Cumberland in 1978, starting his own practice in 1983.  He served patients at Sacred Heart Hospital, Frostburg Community Hospital, WMHS, and UPMC.  Dr. Tan also served at many nursing homes and the Massie Unit for substance abuse treatment.  Visitation will be at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD, Sunday, Jan. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. A wake service will take place during the evening visitation.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 201 N Centre St, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Mark Carter, OFM Cap.
