House, Senate Looking At Ways To Help Families

Kathy Cornwell

One of the strong points brought out during this year’s PACE events in Annapolis is the need to help families in Western Maryland and across the state meet basic needs amidst rising prices. Senator Angela Alsobrooks talked with WCBC about how the loss of Affordable Care Act tax credits hurt families…

“We now know that about 4 million people would lose their insurance right away without them and recognize that the cost of health care is cost prohibitive for most families. And that healthcare cost is enough, really, for many families to go bankrupt.”

Congresswoman April McClain Delaney told WCBC she is also trying to get families help…

“There is a bunch of county convenings I’m doing where I’m trying to get stakeholders, public-private, our hospitals, our elected officials to come together to meet the needs at this time because I believe that when you bridge and when you more effectively work across stakeholders, you’re able to do a lot of good work.”
