Moore Speaks At Redistricting Hearing
Over 200 witnesses were scheduled to testify Tuesday during the Maryland House Rules Committee Hearing on House Bill 488 that would redraw congressional districts in the state. Governor Moore appeared at the hearing to give testimony, saying he would support an effort at national redistricting efforts in the future, but that Maryland has to take steps to address what is happening in the country at the present time…
“Marylanders have had the past two months to be able to make their voices heard. Unlike, frankly, what you’re seeing in other parts of the country where they are literally doing this thing in a backroom with a sharpie pen. Where we’ve actually said, let’s actually invite the input of the people of our state to be able to determine what the future of their democracy looks like. It’s an important question of what’s the value of one vote.”
