County Spending Has Taken A Beating

After graduating from from Frostburg State University, she worked extensively in cable television advertising and programming with Comcast. From 2002 to 2005, she was married to WCBC's Jim Robey. The monies allotted in Governor Moore’s proposed 2027 budget include $12 million dollars for flood recovery efforts in the Georges Creek area, money for the Westernport Library, Allegany College and other projects.  That money is going to be absolutely necessary as the county starts to look at its fiscal year 2027 budget needs.  County Administrator Jason Bennett tells WCBC that money from the state for flood recovery is great, but doesn’t put money back in the county’s coffers…

“It does not reimburse us, we know that. We’re very thankful for the governor putting money in for us and we’ll make use of it. But it still leaves us eight million in the hole.”
