The Times-News reports that Mineral County commissioners voted 2-1 during a meeting Tuesday to relieve Emergency Services Director Luke McKenzie of his duties. Commissioner Jason Whitlock made the motion in an executive session. McKenzie was hired as Emergency Services director in 2016. In 2021, he took on dual roles, also serving as the county’s administrator. In 2025 McKenzie said he would step down from the administrator position and continue directing Emergency Services. Mineral County 911 center will be overseen by Sheriff Joel Whisner until the position is filled.
