Senate President Says Tense Session Still Respectful
Last week, the Maryland Senate had a few difficult days with discussion on bills dealing with immigration enforcement. At his weekly press conference, Senate President Bill Ferguson told reporters that respect reigned over the proceedings and allowed for constructive conversations overall…
“I was just really proud of the way the Senate operated. It was tense, which it should be because these are hard issues, but it was respectful, it was thoughtful. And while there are differences of opinion and we disagree on some of the outcomes, I think it was a showing of what the best of Maryland can be that we can have these thoughtful, value-based conversations and still find a way to move forward.”
