Fraud Investigation Leads to Arrest in Frostburg

Chris Myers is the Morning Show Producer, Broadcaster, at WCBC Radio in Cumberland, Maryland. Myers handles various operational, engineering duties for the station and directs the morning news. In addition to his broadcasting role, Myers is a prominent downtown Cumberland businessman and an active community member who helps organize local events. Myers has been with the Cumberland Broadcasting Company, which operates WCBC, since August 2019 and began his career in radio broadcasting at the age of 14 as a board engineer for WQOL in Florida. In 1998 he was promoted to Chief Engineer for WTTB 1490AM and WGYL 93.7FM. In 2001 Treasure Coast broadcasters purchased additional stations WOSN, WPAW and WGNX.

Allegany County Sheriff’s Office reports that a fraud investigation conducted by its Patrol Division resulted in the execution of a search and seizure warrant at a residence on Park Avenue in Frostburg, Maryland.

Based on evidence obtained during the execution of the warrant, Jason Darko Achampong was arrested. Achampong (23 y/o) was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center for processing, where he is currently being held pending his initial appearance before the District Court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
