West Virginia has received federal approval to extend the reporting period for the loss of food purchased with SNAP benefits during the recent winter storm Fern. The storm caused widespread power outages in the state. Households may qualify for replacement benefits if they lost food due to a power outage lasting more than four hours. A signed affidavit must be submitted. More information is available at local Department of Human Services offices.
