Ballot Bill On To Third Reading In WV House

House Bill 4600 had advanced to its third reading in the West Virginia House of Delegates on Monday. The bill deals with elections security and the receipt of mail-in ballots. Such ballots would have to be received, not postmarked, by 8pm on Election Day to be eligible to be counted. House Minority Whip Shawn Fluharty said the bill is based on conspiracy theories…
“This is going to disenfranchise West Virginians who want to vote have acted in good faith, and done their duty. And yet we’re going to say, ‘well, sorry if you live in a rural area and your mail doesn’t run efficiently. Not our problem. It’s going to impact rural West Virginians and it’s not based on any evidence whatsoever.”
