A new business held its ribbon cutting on Monday in downtown Cumberland. Hill & Company Hair Design features a newly renovated space at 74 Baltimore Street. The building was revitalized using state of Maryland funding from the Project ReStore program. WCBC News spoke with Brook Hill, the owner, about her new shop that offers personalized hair care services and how family brought the business together.

“I have been doing hair for 10 years in Short Gap, West Virginia and my mother had been doing hair for many years in LaVale, Maryland and we really just wanted to meet somewhere central to both of us and open something new together.”

Hill added, appointments can be made by messaging their Facebook page.

Cumberland Mayor, Ray Morris on hand for the ribbon cutting said it’s thrilling to witness innovative services thriving in downtown…

“It looks absolutely fabulous! You know that everybody keeps saying what we there’s another restaurant, another restaurant where we keep going you know we’re going to be getting some services down here too so, we’re thrilled that you’re taking the leap. You know it’s nice to have that project ReStore money but let’s be honest it takes an entrepreneur such as yourself to really make it work.”
