Crack Cocaine Top Cumberland Drug

Recently, Cumberland Police Chief Jim Pyles spoke to the Allegany Republican Alliance about his vision and goals for the police department. Pyles took over as Chief in October of 2025. Pyles’ background is in narcotics policing and it is a major focus for the police force. Pyles said the main drug found in the city is crack cocaine followed closely by crystal meth and they have major economic impact…

“We’re going to concede today we have 200 people that’s sick with crack cocaine. The average habit is $100 a day.  If you have 200 people sick, $100 bucks a day, that’s $20,000 a day going to crack cocaine in the city of Cumberland. That’s $600,000 a month going to crack cocaine in the city of Cumberland.”
