Wash the Winter Away

Kathy Cornwell

Snow and road salt can leave harmful effects on vehicles. Cars and trucks need to have winter road treatment chemicals and salt washed off – especially from the undercarriage.  With the temperatures rising a little this week, Nick Chabarria with AAA says washing cars sooner rather than later will prevent potential rust damage, and corrosion of brake and fuel lines…

“Issues caused by salt and de-icers can cost drivers about $3 billion annually in the U.S. alone, and that comes out to about $500 repair bill for each instance where somebody had an issue.  So, you know, you can spend a few extra bucks on a carwash, especially with that undercarriage wash, could save you hundreds of dollars in repairs in the end.”
