With the winter weather having an effect on road conditions mostly east of Interstate 81 there is going to be some significant weather for Garrett County. WCBC News reached out to Maryland Department of Transportation spokesperson Charlie Gischlar who says if you can stay in today let us get out and take the storm head on…

” If you’re traveling out there today we are expecting a statewide storm mostly going to hit to the east, down east and on the coast but there’s going to be some bands that will affect Western Maryland particularly in Garrett County. Watch for some very very high winds as the storm winds into Sunday and Monday. There’s going to be some very high mountain winds with reduced visibility that could affect the greater Cumberland area as well. Just be extremely careful when you have to go out. If you do have to go out we recommend you go to Roads.Maryland.gov. There you have access to that the hundreds of live traffic cameras, access to a real-time incident page and also the storm map location which shows you where the equipment is and where they’ve been for the last 30 minutes so, you can make a good plan.”
