New Vendor For School Assessment Testing

Maryland teachers have wanted changes to the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program, or MCAP, saying the testing does not align with current curriculum, is overly challenging, and changes too frequently for accurate comparisons. The state has now acquired a new vendor, NCS Pearson, which will administer the program next year, according to State Superintendent Dr. Carey Wright…
“This is an opportunity to thoughtfully redesign our assessment system to align with our revised content standards, and to better measure what Maryland students know and can do. Educators will be at the table throughout the development and standard-setting process to insure that this new assessment reflects Maryland’s expectations for teaching and learning.”
