Calls Grow for SNAP, Young Farmer Support in Farm Bill

Young farmers in Pennsylvania are hoping Congress finally passes a long-awaited Farm Bill this year after repeated extensions since 2018. A draft covers funding for the next five years including help for small and beginning farmers. “So we expect during the markup that they will offer an amendment to try to bring back all the funding that was covered in HR 1 because, especially for farmers and consumers on SNAP, it helps them eat and access affordable food and it helps farmers access that federal funding to the markets.”
