Sheriff Candidates Share Views at Forum on WCBC

The three candidates for Allegany County Sheriff presented their cases Thursday evening at a meeting of the Republican Alliance, broadcast live by WCBC Radio. When asked about a top priority for improvement,

Rich Godlove emphasized communicating with the public, or transparency… “Transparency, I think the public needs to know what’s going on. I think the Sheriff’s office needs to tell you the why but not the how for operational security reasons.”

David Morgan said his top priority would be increased manpower… “Washington County has 118 sworn deputies and including the Sheriff we have 40.”

Andrew Opel said he would focus on recruitment, training, and promotions…”I think the number one thing that we need to change within the sheriff’s office, kind of be a bundle Recruitment, Training and Promotions.”
