The Allegany County Commissioners discussed options regarding Lonaconing’s outstanding water bill to the county during a recent open work session.  Lonaconing has been slowly paying off the bill to the county since 2023 when the town’s system failed a test on turbidity. Commissioner Creade Brodie dismissed legal action, saying he would not want to do that to someone in county jurisdiction. The town owes the county around $400,000, and Commissioner Dave Caporale would like to see some payment options put together…

“That’s been ongoing.  They had their issues down there with their system.  The obviously the flooding and everything.  Ways that we can look at that without harming the citizens.  The citizens paid for that water, and we were not paid by the town.”
