Four City of Cumberland police officers were recognized with awards at a recent council meeting. Patrol officers Jacob Garrison and Jonathan Skelley tied as 2025 DUI Award recipients for efforts against drunk driving. Lieutenant Barry Fickes was named the Top Gun shooter for the department. For the 2025 Officer of the Year, Chief Jim Pyles commended Patrolman Michael Bise for his efforts…

“Michael Bise made 308 criminal arrests, served 36 search warrants, did 32 controlled dangerous substance investigations, responded to 1,227 incidents. Therefore, he’s 2025 Cumberland’s Top Cop. Keep in mind, the young man works 168 days a year with a 12-day schedule. That’s amazing work.”
