Resident Brings Forth Data Concerns

Data Centers are a hot topic across the region with many questions surrounding location and power supply to run them.  At a recent Allegany County Commissioners meeting, resident Eric Carey addressed his worries for the local area…

“My concerns about even the potential of bringing in a large-scale data center to Allegany County whether that is at Luke Mill or elsewhere are shared by a significant portion of our fellow Allegany County residents.”

Carey said data centers such as those in Frederick and Montgomery County pull huge amounts of power from the electrical grid…

“A 300+ megawatt data center was roughly equivalent to half the power draw of the entire city of Baltimore.”
