Maryland GOP Proposes Gas Tax Holiday

Kathy Cornwell

Citing the rising price of gasoline amidst the ongoing US-Iran conflict, the Maryland Republican House and Senate leadership joined to introduce legislation that would temporarily halt the state’s gas tax. The 30-day pause would save drivers the 46-cents per gallon fuel tax imposed by the state. A spokesman for Governor Moore said that would put a $100 million dollar hole in the transportation budget when the state is trying to close a deficit. Moore suggested that Republican leaders call the President and tell him to end the war taxpayers are paying for.
