Messick Road Space Being Prepared

Area residents have no doubt noticed the land cleared at the intersection of Messick Road and Route 51. It’s part of a joint project between the City of Cumberland and Allegany Economic Development to provide more space for industrial-type businesses.  Mayor Ray Morriss says trees have been cleared and there is more work planned for the site as funding becomes available…

“The CEDC is working on grants to be able to level out the site to make it pad ready for some occupants in there and also has several that have shown a real interest once that work is done. So, you know when you work at a government pace, it’s a little bit slower than a private developer.”
