Cumberland Police Caution About Phone Scam

On March 19, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department was contacted by an individual regarding a text message he had received. The message claimed that he had been charged with a crime and instructed him to send money to an officer for bond in order to avoid arrest.

The Cumberland Police Department would like to remind the public that officers will never contact individuals to request bond payments. Citizens are encouraged to delete and block any such messages they receive.

This incident remains under investigation by the C3I Unit.
