Capito Speaks on SAVE Act

West Virginia Senator Shelly Moore-Capito spoke on behalf of the Republican Policy Committee on efforts to pass the SAVE Act which would require voters to present documentary proof of citizenship before voting. President Trump has said he would not consider any deals on ending the partial government shutdown without its passage. Moore-Capito says IDs are already required for voting in some states and should be nationwide…

“But it goes back to one thing I think most of the folks that we represent have a great respect for and that’s just basic common sense. Common sense and fairness. It’s only fair that those who have the right to vote as a citizen are actually granted that and can go to the polls. It’s only common sense that an ID would be required.
