States Included in American Water Acquisition Remain Undecided

Discussions continue regarding the Bel Air Water System situation among the Allegany County Commissioners.  Contacting other Public Service Commissions regarding the county’s concern was a topic of Thursday’s commissioner meeting.  In order for American Water’s acquisition to go through, all eight states included in the purchase must be on board, but according to Dr. Larry Smith of Bel Air, Virginia and Pennsylvania have yet to decide…

“I would encourage you at least to consider drafting a piece of correspondence to the two outstanding state regulatory agencies informing them that although that you proffered a correspondence to the PSC in Maryland that was not found favorably—in the interest of the people in their communities—you would stress them to get considerations and the concerns that you raised in Maryland.”
