MD 135 Project Will Last Into Fall

Maryland’s Department of Transportation State Highway Administration begins a slope stabilization project today that will continue into fall. A temporary traffic signal will alternate one-lane traffic on Maryland Route 135 between Grant Street and the Garrett County line. SHA spokesperson Charlie Gischlar talked to WCBC about why the work is needed following last May’s flooding in the area…
“And then they kept getting storms and moisture in the ground that created on those mountain surfaces very unstable soils. And there’s also a boulder that has become a bit unstable over near the gas station over there and we’re going to need to get in there and break that boulder up.”
