The C. William Gilchrist Gallery & Museum is proud to announce the opening of its 2026 exhibition season with Cat’s Cradle Collective, a vibrant group exhibition featuring the work of more than 30 regional artists. The exhibition will be on view April 3 through May 10, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Admission is free and open to the public. Cat’s Cradle Collective is an artist-run group based in Cumberland, Maryland, known for fostering an inclusive and experimental creative environment. Bringing together artists of all ages, backgrounds, and disciplines, the collective emphasizes community-building through art and regularly rotates exhibitions in its downtown gallery space. The April 11 reception offers a unique opportunity to meet participating artists, engage with the local creative community, and celebrate the opening of the Gilchrist’s 2026 season.

This exhibition highlights a wide range of artistic styles and perspectives, drawing inspiration from Appalachian heritage, underground art culture, and the spirit of creative freedom. Visitors can expect a diverse collection of work, from expressive and thought-provoking pieces to playful and unconventional creations reflecting the rich creative energy of the Western Maryland region.
In addition to visual art exhibitions, Cat’s Cradle Collective is recognized for hosting poetry readings, writing workshops, and collaborative gatherings that encourage artistic exploration and connection.

The exhibition will be open to visitors Friday through Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM throughout its run.
