With the return of nicer weather, the Cumberland Police Department reminds everyone of the importance of wearing seat belts. Wearing a seat belt is the single most effective action you can take to protect yourself in a vehicle crash. It is designed to keep you safely inside the vehicle, as being ejected is almost always fatal. In a crash, a seat belt reduces the risk of fatal injury by 45% in passenger cars and 60% in SUVs, trucks, and vans.
