Downtown Business Owner Ticketed

When the new downtown was established in November, 2024, the city of Cumberland informed persons not to park heavy trucks on the brick sidewalks.  Jim Weir, owner of Awesome Gifts and Collectibles, admitted to WCBC Radio that he ran afoul of this rule…

“I got a ticket.  I should get a ticket.  I should get a ticket often.  But I got only one ticket for parking on the bricks.”

Weir added that the bricks should be able to support the weight of a pickup truck.

“Truck didn’t hurt the bricks, didn’t break the bricks.  And I have to be perfectly honest, if those damned bricks can’t withstand a pickup truck running on them then they shouldn’t have put them in there.”
