Initiative Examines Rising Health Care Costs and Solutions in MD

As more Marylanders worry about health care costs, researchers look to find bipartisan consensus on ways to lower patient costs. Launched by the Bipartisan Policy Center, the Healthcare Affordability Initiative focuses on lowering costs rather than shifting the cost burden for care. Associate director Kendall Strong says researchers will look at how prescription drug costs, administrative complexity, and physician pricing contribute to rising health care costs…
“To make real progress in terms of health care affordability, we want to look at what’s driving the costs across the system, focus on areas where there’s actual bipartisan opportunity and where lawmakers seem interested in acting, and then ultimately make reforms that impact change.”
