Two Arrested Following Disturbance In Corriganville

Kathy Cornwell

On Friday April 17, 2026, Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence in the Corriganville area. Two subjects involved in the disturbance fled the scene in a vehicle before the responding deputies arrived. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that both subjects fled the area because one of those subjects had an active arrest warrant from another county.

Deputies checked the area and located the vehicle abandoned behind a Corriganville business. While searching the area, one subject emerged from the nearby woods and was detained. Citizens stopped their cars in the roadway and alerted deputies to another individual seen running away and trying to climb a nearby hillside. When deputies arrived at the described location there were additional citizens directing them to the subject who was still trying to flee by climbing a hillside. Maryland State Police Trooper 5 was nearby to assist during the incident. Deputies safely detained this second subject who was positively identified and confirmed to have an active arrest warrant from Washington County, MD.

As a result of this incident the following individuals were arrested and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center pending their initial appearance.

-32 year old Robert Pettaway of Hagerstown, MD was arrested on his arrest warrant.

-34 year old Jeffrey Pettaway of Corriganville, MD was arrested and charged with providing a false statement to an officer, harboring a fleeing felon, and interfering with an arrest.
