Living Arts Festival coming to Baltimore Street

Chris Myers

The Cumberland Living Arts Festival takes place Saturday, May 16th from 10 AM to 5 PM in downtown Cumberland. The event will be held along Baltimore Street with a number of free interactive activities including a kids’ craft station, jewelry making, flower pot painting, a photo booth, magnetic poetry, live music and a community painting wall. Axle Santiago is the director of the organization and spoke with WCBC News about the goal of the event…

“The goal of the festival is really to highlight our incredible local art community and also lower those barriers to local art for visitors and our community members, especially with how expensive things have been getting nowadays. It’s really going to be a place where you don’t have to worry about how much you’ve got in your wallet, you can go in and walk out with completely free art. We’ll have live music, poetry performances, vendors and free creative activity stations.”

The event is in partnership with the Downtown Development Commission and it’s being financially sponsored through Gilchrist Galleries Cumberland Cultural Foundation, Allegany Arts Council, Chessie Federal Credit Union, Lily Books and Cafe, Arcadian Gallery and the Downtown Cumberland Business Association.
