Budget For Key Bridge Uncertain

After estimates for the work nearly tripled, contractor Kiewit Infrastructure has been removed as the builder of the new Key Bridge in Baltimore. Original prices of $2 billion to replace the bridge are now nearing closer to $8- to $10 billion dollars. Maryland Congressman Andy Harris told WBAL Radio the federal government had agreed to pay for the bridge, but that decision may now have to be revisited…

“No, I think that’s going to have to come under discussion because, for instance, the pot of money from which this was going to be paid is called the Emergency Fund and that doesn’t have – you know the entire emergency fund for the entire country doesn’t have that kind of money in it.”
