Jobs Report Exceeds Expectations

A stronger than expected April Jobs Report is out, with the U.S. economy adding 115,000 jobs last month. National unemployment remains steady at just over 4%. Kevin Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council, spoke with America’s Newsroom on Fox after the report far exceeded expectations of just 65,000 new jobs…
“The initial claims for unemployment insurance, which are a key backbone of these jobs numbers. That’s the metric of whether people are getting laid off. They’re the lowest they’ve been since they started making the data in the 1960s. So right now we have the lowest initial claims for unemployment in recorded history.”
