It’s Del McCoury day in Allegany County

A ceremonial contract signing was held Wednesday evening during Del-ebration on Centre Street in downtown Cumberland. Del McCoury and the Allegany County Board of Commissioners signed a five-year contract extension to keep the DelFest music festival at the Allegany County Fairgrounds through 2030. Del McCoury, his wife Jean and their sons Ronnie and Rob and daughter Rhonda were present for the event along with Allegany County Commission President Dave Caporale and Commissioner William Atkinson. Ashli Workman, county director of tourism presented a proclamation declaring the Thursday of DelFest as Del McCoury day…

 

“Del through your music your leadership and the incredible community surrounding DelFest you and your family have helped shape an important part of Allegany county’s identity for nearly two decades. DelFest has brought people together through music, mentorship, tradition and fellowship while also creating a tremendous impact to our community, because of that Allegany County board of commissioners has officially proclaimed the Thursday of DelFest each year in Allegany County as Del McCoury day.”

 

Del McCourys was also presented with the “Music Key to Mountain Maryland.” for everything that he has done for the community.
