Buckel Responds To Outside Influence In House Race

Kathy Cornwell

Republican Delegate Jason Buckel is criticizing the involvement of what he calls left-wing political figures and outside money in the race for House of Delegates in District 1B. His opponent, Democrat Rhiannon Brown, has had her campaign funded by Congresswoman April McClain-Delaney as well as Delaney’s opponent David Trone who gave $6,000…

“I’ve never, in the handful of elections that I’ve been involved with here, I’ve never seen that situation. Someone to do a max donor, a $6,000 max donor, and at the same time they’re basically taking positions that are so far out of step with Allegany County that it’s crazy.”

Buckel also said that Democrats had been working to find a candidate willing to run for the seat so it would not be uncontested…

“No one had filed to run for the seat. The Democratic Central Committee as part of their statewide plan nominated someone who did not file to run for the seat, apparently had no intention to run for the seat during the lengthy period that you were allowed to. I think it was over a year you were allowed to sign up until February.”
