Pennsylvania Legislators Push Package of Electric Affordability Bills
As electricity costs rise this summer, Democratic lawmakers in the Pennsylvania House are advancing a package of bills to lower energy costs, especially in the face of new data center construction and energy demand. Democrat Rob Matzie of Beaver County says House Bill 1834 would direct the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to ensure data centers pay their own way…
“But our bill basically says if you’re gonna build a data center, we don’t want grandma’s bill to go up. Bottom line, plain and simple. The companies themselves must pay any and all costs associated with connecting to the regional distribution system.”
