Buckel and Republicans Blast Calls for Special Session

Republican leadership in Annapolis is unhappy that chances are increasing of a special session to address redistricting this year. After Senate President Bill Ferguson announced his softening on the issue, House Republicans blistered the idea in a press release. House Minority Leader Jason Buckel stated, ““It’s disappointing that the Senate President seems to be suggesting that a special session will occur to attempt a hypocritical change to our Constitution to make it easier for more hyper-partisan gerrymandering, given we are already one of the most gerrymandered states in America.” Seven of Maryland’s eight Congressional seats are already held by Democrats.
