PA Nurses Encourage Advance Directives for End-of-Life Care

The vast majority of Pennsylvania residents lack an advance directive, a healthcare document outlining their preferences and wishes during end-of-life care.  Missy Moore has been a hospice nurse for 30 years in the Keystone state.  She says nurses should do their part to ensure patients understand the importance of these documents and how they’re a crucial guide for medical decisions…

“Emergencies happen. Things happen. But if people don’t know what you want, then it’s up to the practitioner to determine all of these different things, if there isn’t someone appointed for you, or if you don’t have your personal wishes written down.”
