Waiver Granted For Allegany County Public Schools

Wednesday’s heavy rains prompted the cancelation of classes for Allegany County public schools as a precaution against flooding. Because of that, Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano indicated Wednesday evening he would seek a waiver from the Maryland State Board of Education so the missed day would not have to be made up. Martirano announced Thursday afternoon that the waiver had been granted, meaning the school year for students will end as scheduled on Wednesday, June 10.
