Maryland’s Public Service Commission Approves Sale of Maryland Water

The Maryland Public Service Commission has approved the sale of Bel Air’s water system to American Water. Allegany County Commissioners unanimously voted last week to use eminent domain to take over the water system that covers Pinto, Bel Air, Glen Oaks, and Highland Estates following criticism of unaffordable rates. The developments follow the PSC’s recent decisions to decline requests from the county to block the sale or hold a public hearing for resident input.
