Harford Bans Data Centers

One Maryland county has shut its boundaries to data centers. The Harford County Council voted unanimously this week to ban data centers from locating in the county. A groundswell of community effort prompted the vote on emergency legislation after Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly had initially wanted to wait until after election season. Council Member Jacob Bennett was happy to see the resolution passed…

“We do have to clean up the definitions and that is work that is going to take time and making sure that we get that language right so we don’t find ourselves in the courts or having unintended consequences. But for now, this is awesome to have in place.”
